A weekend of lectures, films, food, and workshops exploring
the relationship between Middle Eastern media and society.
Presenters include:
• Mona Eltahawy, award-winning syndicated columnist and
international public speaker on Arab and Muslim issues.
• Dr. Sam Cherribi, Emory University and former
Member of Parliament in The Netherlands
• Dr. Jim Winship, Model Arab League, National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations
This workshop is open to all non-Middle East specialists in the University System of Georgia. Selection is based upon a first-come, first-served basis but preference will be given to first time participants. The cost of this workshop is $35, which covers: optional field trip to Muslim community center, lectures, film screenings, one lunch and two Middle Eastern dinners. There is an additional $10.95 fee for the Sunday morning brunch at the Holiday Inn in Decatur. The conference rate at the Holiday Inn is $109 for a double room.
